Nigeria records 1,138 new COVID-19 infections, five deaths.


Nigeria on Wednesday, recorded 1,138 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total infections to 134,690.

This was reported by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on it's official website.

According to the agency, the new infections were recorded across 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

The health agency also revealed that it recorded five coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total fatalities to  1,618 deaths.

Lagos State, which is the epic center, led the way with 377 cases while the FCT accounted for 172 fresh cases.

Others are: Plateau (86), Kano (84), Edo (60), Osun (47), Nasarawa (41), Imo (40), Rivers (36), Niger (32), Oyo (32), Borno (29), Kaduna (27), Delta (18), Kwara (17), Cross River (9), Ekiti (8), Bauchi (7), Ogun (7), Sokoto (6) and Bayelsa (3).

NCDC reported that 108,657 persons have so far recovered and have been discharged from various isolation centers nationwide.
